Admissions
Shenstone School is an all-through special needs school for children with severe and complex learning difficulties. Shenstone School is located across three school sites: Sidcup, Crayford, and Thamesmead. We currently support pupils from 2 to 11 years old at the Sidcup and Crayford sites. From September 2024, we have year 7, 8 and 9 students at another temporary Thamesmead site while we wait for the building of our secondary school provision. The secondary provision will grow year on year and support pupils from 11-19 years. The Sidcup site currently supports pupils from nursery to Year 4, and the Crayford site mainly supports pupils from Year 4 to Year 6. We have two classes at the Crayford site, primarily for pupils with more complex physical and medical needs, and some may be in the younger age range.
Over 60% of students at Shenstone have an additional diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
We are one of two special schools within The Kemnal Academies Trust (TKAT).
We welcome visits from prospective pupils with parents/carers. All new admissions are confirmed through the Bexley SEN team.
Special Schools Admission Criteria
Bexley’s special school’s admissions is managed by Bexley Council’s Special Educational Needs Service. This service is available at the Bexley Council Civic Offices and can be called by contacting 0208 0303 7777 and asking to speak to the SEN team. All pupils have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). EHCPs are carefully considered by the school to ensure that as a school we will be able to meet the identified pupil’s needs and that the child would be appropriately placed in the school.
